Anxiety in children can arise due to a lot of reasons and knowing the exact cause of anxiety is the first step towards curing it. However, if the child is unwilling to state the cause of his problems there are some remedies that might help the situation. i) Make a cup of tea, especially one made from St. John’s wort, hops, valerian to help stabilize the mood of your child.
ii) You can even make use of essential oils to ease the pressure on your child. You can mix 2 drops each of rose and lemon balm oil and 3 drops of lavender oil and use it in a fragrant oil burner.
iii) A scented sachet placed under the pillow can help your child get a good night’s sleep. You may use valerian, lavender, primrose, elder or hops.
iv) You may give you child a glass of milk mixed with fennel and honey half an hour before bedtime. All you have to do is boil about 250 ml of milk and 2 teaspoons of crushed fennel seeds, let it steep briefly, strain and sweeten with honey.
v) It is well known that light and colour can have a very good effect on a child’s mood. You can place your child in an environment having a bright and friendly colour like yellow. red or orange.
vi) Fish oil is also said to help reduce anxiety due to the presence of a certain kind of a fatty acid called EPA.The above methods are effective in mild cases. However, it is always better to consult a doctor if the child’s anxiety persists.
